Against a backdrop of beautiful desert landscapes and lively music, we follow the young Houlaye in her search for water.
Day in and day out, 12-year-old Houlaye walks miles to fetch water from a distant well. While deep underground there is a huge groundwater lake that has the potential to drastically change the lives of the villagers. In the small village of Niger, one of the sub-Saharan countries hardest hit by global warming, Houlaye does everything he can to convince the government to drill for that precious commodity.
This screening is part of the three-day outdoor cinema from August 26-28. Three summer film evenings, which take us to beautiful places, special stories and inspiring people. The films, with the beautiful setting by Loevestein in the background, offer us a look at nature, people and changes.
