Awards
On Sunday evening, April 16, the youth jury announced that the IFFG Youth Jury Award 2023 will go to the animated film Nayola. This impressive and surprising film is about three generations of women in a 25-year civil war in Angola. "You can't really escape the war, but the colours, music, details and symbolic in this film are beautiful. The best way to tell an awful story', says youth jury member Sophia Glavatska. Producer Michiel Snijders reacted clearly emotionally and gratefully to this recognition.
The votes of the visitors also count, they determine which film will be the audience favorite. This year's IFFG Audience Award went to the Chinese film The Cord of Life. A loving story, visually very strong, about a son who takes his demented mother on a journey to her birthplace. A universal story about love and letting go. In addition to the awards, both winners also receive a cash prize.
