Founder and festival director Anika van der Kevie traveled the world for years and even settled in South America for a long time. There she committed herself through cultural educational projects for disadvantaged children and young people, because everyone matters and every story counts. Back in Gorinchem with her stories, her enormous passion for film, culture and people, she wanted to offer the makers of world cinema a bigger stage. To share stories, promote social cohesion and broaden and enrich the viewer's view. Her ambition to bring the world to Gorinchem became reality in 2017.
In the meantime, IFFG has grown into a successful festival with films from and for the whole world. IFFG reaches people who may have come in contact with world cinema less easily before. We take the visitor on a journey around the world, where the total experience is central. World cinema is pre-eminently a means of connecting people to the residents of Gorinchem and the surrounding area.
