The Farewell is a remarkable and comical family portrait. Director Lulu Wang fills the film with warmth and love, while the dear family members each in their own way manage to give a place to the approaching loss.
IFFG's Monday Movie Nights take place every last Monday of the month in the Nieuwe Doelen. Various films from a previous festival program will appear on screen, as well as new films. Come and enjoy world cinema together in the beautiful theater and chat in our own film café!
When Billi's (Awkwafina) family learns that their beloved grandmother has terminal lung cancer, they decide not to inform her. So an excuse is made so that Grandma's family gathering is not too noticeable, in the form of Billi's cousin's hastily planned wedding. When Billi, against her principles, decides to go, she comes into contact with the life she was forced to give up as a 6-year-old, her strong-minded grandmother and the power of unspoken love.
