IFFG will kick off the new year in 2022 with a wonderful film day in Theater Peeriscoop. During the New Year's Special, IFFG screens two beautiful, accessible films: Minari and Silence of the Tides. A film from far away and one up close, in which identity and the right to exist are central. Both films get to your heart. Let yourself be carried away in the family history of the Korean director Lee Isaac Chung or in the daily life in nature on the Wadden. Afterwards, of course, we like to toast to the new year in the cozy foyer of Theater Peeriscoop.

The Korean Yi family decides to exchange urban life for rural Arkansas to fulfill their 'American dream'. Jacob hopes that a farm will help his family get a better life, but the new environment comes with quite a few challenges. They are not doing well financially and the heart defect of their son David, keeps the family constantly on their guard. Yet they try to find a way in farm life together. But when Grandmother unexpectedly moves in with them, the family is really put to the test.
