We are IFFG
IFFG is bringing world cinema to Gorinchem, in the heart of the Netherlands and outside the Randstad. We show films from all over the world with current and social themes. Films that touch and surprise you with fascinating stories, beautiful images, unique places and interesting characters.
We exhibit world films, not only during the annual festival, but also during the year-round program and through the educational program. We achieve all this with a close and driven team.
The organization started in 2017 and annually provides surprising and current programming of international films. This programming is framed by the presence of film professionals, talks, Q & As, events, music and other related cultural programs.

Vision
IFFG provides makers of world cinema with an annual platform located at the heart of the Netherlands. The IFFG is convinced that film, and in particular world cinema, contributes towards strengthening social cohesion, creating a respectful society and increasing the appeal of our living environment. By making world cinema accessible to everyone, IFFG helps disseminate the filmmakers’ work and enriches the viewers’ perspective.

Mission
IFFG wants to bring world cinema closer to the people, making it accessible for all. World cinema includes films from various continents and deals with topical, global and social themes. During the festival and other activities, the IFFG uses film as a medium to take you on a journey around the world, allowing you to see beyond borders and generate understanding and connectivity.

History
For many years, festival founder and director Anika van der Kevie travelled around the world, at one point spending an extended period in South America. She dedicated her time to helping disadvantaged children and adolescents by way of cultural projects, because she felt that everyone matters and every story counts. Back in Gorinchem, with her stories and her great passion for film, culture and people, she wanted to offer the makers of world cinema a platform through which to share stories, promote social cohesion and enrich and broaden the viewers’ perspective.
Her ambition to bring the world to Gorinchem became a reality in 2017. The IFFG has since grown to become a successful festival with films from and for people all over the world. The IFFG reaches people who may previously have had little access to world cinema. Every year, over 3000 people from the Netherlands and abroad visit the festival, and we welcome another 1500 during our monthly specials. We take visitors on a journey around the world, the aim being to give them a total experience. Film, and in our case world cinema, is the perfect way to connect the people of Gorinchem and the surrounding area with each other.
